Camo Connection

August 19, 2014

Camouflage, traditional a more masculine print, can add depth + totally transform any look.  With this sporty top, for example, by simply adding dressy pumps + simple gold accessories, the feminine level immediately elevates.  I'm already thinking of other ways to wear these pants: to work with some nude flats + a white blouse, or maybe with a navy gingham print top, or even striped flats + a basic white tee.  Endless possibilities.

Camo prints are everywhere this season: vests, tees, loafers.  How will you wear yours?

the New Neutral

August 14, 2014

They say Leopard is the new neutral.  So spice your Leopard up a bit, try adding a striped blouse or tee, or even a printed top with a similar color pattern.   You could even add some striped pumps and a neon sleeveless blouse, like this one.  Happy Styling.

the LBD

August 12, 2014

Ever have writer's block when it comes to getting dressed?   Enter the LBD.  It never fails.  It slims, it flatters + it goes with nearly anything: flats, sandals, heels, leather jackets, blazers... the list goes on.

I bought this LBD last year in the Savvy department at Nordstrom.  It is now sold out, but there are many other options out there.  Happy Styling.

Mixing

August 11, 2014

Happy Monday, everyone.  Mondays are my least favorite day of the week (most people would probably agree).  Therefore, I have nothing exciting to write about, except for my excitement about this outfit.  I had been experimenting with pattern mixing with several pieces in my closet (see Instagram photo+ I think this look was a success.

The key is to keep the color palates in the same family.  In this case, the skirt has a base of small, crisscrossed black + white lines, so pairing it with the bit larger lines of this simple black + white stripe crop top was an obvious choice.  Plus, I couldn't resist buying this top since it was less than $20 at Nordstrom Rack (I love the fun + flirty open-back detail).  Hey, it's all about the details, right?  If you're looking to start experimenting with mixing patterns, keep it simple, start small, and avoid more than one large print.  Happy Styling.

It's a Pane

August 8, 2014

The Window Pane print has been everywhere, more-so last season than right now.  Remember back to this post?  I was obsessed with that French Connection dress, though it proved to be way too short for my figure.... But that's what I love about Nordstrom Rack, you're able to find hot pieces that you recently just spotted at Nordstrom for at least half the price.  Like these wedges.  I had them saved in my Nordstrom Wish List for a few months, just hoping they would go on sale.  Of course, they sold out before I could get my hand on them.  That's why I was so shocked/excited when I found them at the Rack, for nearly 50% off!  Amazing.  A timeless wardrobe staple that will have a permanent place in my closet, and my heart, for that matter.

Who's excited for the weekend?  I know I am.  Happy Styling.

Dressed-up Denim

August 5, 2014

My friend Bridget introduced me to these shorts back in May while I was visiting her for the weekend/half marathon in Brooklyn.  {She's on top of her style game.}  I was obsessed with them, but I waited until the Loft 4th of July sale to finally give in to temptation.  I'm glad I did.  Though, it took me nearly a month to decide how to style 'em..

I opted for a denim button down, white pumps, some sparkly jewels + some leopard (ovb-y).  But, after wearing them for the first time, I easily have pick out at least 3 other ways to style them.  Happy Styling, stay tuned.

Gingham Goes Floral

August 1, 2014

Oh, the joys of Friday...  Even though I have to work all weekend (Sox are home and Yanks are in town), I have no other major plans, except for a long run sometime tomorrow.  Sometimes the days // weekends are just so damn-jam packed, it's nice to just sit back + relax.  I have some busy weekends coming up in August so I should enjoy this "down" time while I can, right?  That's what I'm telling myself anyways.

Back to the outfit, I ended up purchasing this skirt on major sale at L&T (obvs).  I love the print mixing happening, even though I can't take credit since I didn't design the skirt.  My goal in life (or at least in my wardrobe) is to experiment more with different patterns + prints.  {I started to look for some separates in my closet that may help get my creative juices flowing, see here.}  I can do it, just gotta stay confident.  Have a fabulous weekend!
