I don't have many rules when it comes to dressing...

Except for one.  If you're wearing something that shows off the legs, wear something more conservative on the top (i.e. no crop tops and/or minimal cleavage).  This works both ways.  If your wearing a low cut top, a slim tank or a crop top, don't show too much leg (i.e. swap the mini skirt for a midi skirt).  Balance it out.  Don't give it all away, you know?

I was a bit apprehensive to wear over-the-knees boots.  I wanted to remain classy without giving off any trashy vibes, especially since these boots have a high heel.  And although I'm not wearing a skirt or showing much skin, this look is all about the legs, creating a sexy, curvy silhouette.  So I followed my rule and paired the boots with skinny jeans (tucked into my socks so they don't ride up) and a super comfy, over-sized sweater.  Pretty simple, while remaining balanced + on trend at the same time.

So if you're debating making the purchase of some killer over-the-knee boots, get 'em gurl!  You will rock them.

I'll be sharing more ways to style these over-the-knee boots so check back next week.

By the Bay

This look is brought to you from the beautiful City of Newburyport, which has become one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon/evening.  From the variety of shops + restaurants, to the quaint streets + endless waterfront walkways, you could spend the day just getting lost among it all.  This past Sunday evening consisted of a stroll, followed by Dinner + Drinks on the harbor.  Cheers!

Scarf + Sweater

[ sweater: J.Crew Factory ]  [ jeans: Vince ]  [ flats: Jeffery Campbell ]  [ handbag: Michael Kors ]  [ scarf: via TJMaxx similar ]  [ watch: Movado ]  [ rings: TopShop, h&m ]

I love sweater weather.  I thrown on an over sized scarf + sweater, stylish flats and some skinnies and I'm ready for the day.  If you opt for muted tones (often like me), sling a bright bag over your shoulder for a pop of color.

Casual Color-block

[ sweater: J.Crew Factory ]  [ blouse: J.Crew Factory ]  [ jeans: J.Crew Factory ]  [ shades: Burberrry ]
[ flats: Sam Edelman ]  [ purse: Michael Kors, larger version ]

I hit up the J.Crew Factory sale this past weekend, splurging a bit, yet convincing myself I needed it all.  I had been eyeing this waffle color-block sweater for some time, and decided there was no time better than a 40% off sale.  I also love that I can incorporate many colors into this look, while still representing my love for all things b+w.
