Avoiding Digital Eye Fatigue // with Pixel Eyewear

I started my new job 4 weeks ago now.  I have to admit the first few weeks were tough.  I found myself exhausted half way through the work week, which was totally unlike me.  My eyes were burning and that exhausted feeling just consumed me.  Who knows if the adjustment of my new schedule and increased screen time were to blame.  Admittedly, I spend a good portion of my days 'in the glow', between Instagram and Facebook, checking emails and blogging at home...  But in this digital age we live, theres really no avoiding it.  

The timing couldn't have been more perfect when Pixel Eyewear reached out and asked me to try their glasses.  If you haven't heard of Pixel Eyewear, they've been featured in Vogue and Inc.com.  The lens are designed with a slightly yellow tint which helps to block some of the strong, artificial blue lights gleaming from computer and device screens that our eyes aren't really meant to handle. Their frames are super stylish, and available at a great price point!  I knew it could only help my tired eye situation.  I picked the Ventus and Omni styles, and they've been fantastic.  Plus, it's fun to wear glasses without a prescription :)  I try to wear my Pixels at least a few hours a day while I'm at my computer or on my iPad.  I've found I'm less tired at that mid-afternoon slump.  I've also tried to make other adjustments like going to bed earlier (I'm a night owl), drinking less coffee and exercising at least 4-5 days a week.

Blue Striped Off-the-Shoulder Top

 

Happy Hump Day!  I've been dying to wear this new top from Highline Collective, just another new line I have discovered at Lord & Taylor.  I have to admit, I sized up when I bought this top because I wanted a bit of the over-sized look.  In retrospect, I should have stuck to my normal size, but oh well!  Live & learn... 

My blogger friend, Danielle, and I met up for a photo shoot and dinner last night at Market Street in Lynnfield.  We had some fun taking pictures of each other before indulging at the Yard House (my favorite!).  There were so many great backdrops to choose from, I particularly loved the blue striped couch to match my blue striped shirt.  More photo shoots with Danielle are on the horizon... Isn't it so nice to find a friend that you can blog with?  ;)

Red Loves Leopard

Had a great Birthday weekend!  Dinner with friends Friday night, lunch with my bestie Saturday, where we enjoyed this beautiful dessert above, courtesy of my favorite bartender, followed by dinner Saturday night at my favorite Mexican restaurant (Agave in Newburyport), and finally lunch my mom Sunday (wearing the outfit above).  A food and fun-filled weekend for sure.  (Somewhere in all this I managed to squeeze in a much needed 6 mile run and gym-sesh) 

I'm rounding out the celebrations tonight over Icelandic cocktails with Girlfriends....  Did I mention I'm going to Iceland in April?  So when we found out this weekend in Boston was Taste of Iceland, we knew we had to check out one of the events.  More on my upcoming trip later.     

Thanks for the birthday love!  Here's to 29 years!  One more year to finish the "before I'm thirty" list....

Olive over stripes

Today I'm sharing another way I styled this green cape/poncho (see first post here).  When I first saw this cape online during the nordstrom anniversary sale, I debated purchasing the black option, instead of green.  I took a risk, bought the green and I'm glad I did.  The olive/green color goes with more than I expected, especially this time of year.  I've been throwing it on over really anything - yesterday a chunky sweater, this past weekend over a long sleeve tee while out running errands.  I love that it can be styled casually and dressed up, I'm thinking with some wide leg trousers...  This won't be the last time you'll be seeing this baby, that's for sure.

I'm not sure if I'll have time to squeeze in another post between now and thursday, so Happy Thanksgiving!  I'm thankful for this blog (my creative and stylish outlet) and of course, you - my followers!  Thank you for your support!  Speaking of Thanksgiving... What's everyone wearing?  I'm struggling to pick something out, though I might just end up wearing this poncho to hide the food gut!
