cobalt

July 24, 2015

The Nordstrom Anniversary sales serves up some pretty great finds (see my picks here).  This top is another one of my favorites, for both the great price point and the color.  I'm always a fan of tunic style tops -- for both length + loose fit -- and this piece certainly fits the bill.  It was quick to sell out so be sure to check out some other great tunic options I've linked up below.  Thanks for stopping by.

Yep, more pink today!  I incorporated pops of pink from top to bottom: sunglasses, blouse, nails and boots.  It sounds strange to think of snow boots as a closet staple, but up here in N.E., quality snow boots are oh-so-important.  I've never had a 'real' pair (that I can remember, at least).  That's why I'm so excited for these.. Believe it or not, I've been dying for snow so that I could finally wear these classic Sorel boots!  I know these boots will last years and years, both keeping me warm and dry (so important!)  Plus, the subtle pink accents allows the boots to be girly without being too girly, ya know?   I'm sure I'll be wearing these all day tomorrow since winds chills of -21 degrees are expected.   Brrrr.

Don't forget to check back on Friday.  I'll be sharing a new, super cute outfit and co-hosting a 'Fab Favorites' blog link up!  Happy Hump Day.

Mixing

August 11, 2014

Happy Monday, everyone.  Mondays are my least favorite day of the week (most people would probably agree).  Therefore, I have nothing exciting to write about, except for my excitement about this outfit.  I had been experimenting with pattern mixing with several pieces in my closet (see Instagram photo+ I think this look was a success.

The key is to keep the color palates in the same family.  In this case, the skirt has a base of small, crisscrossed black + white lines, so pairing it with the bit larger lines of this simple black + white stripe crop top was an obvious choice.  Plus, I couldn't resist buying this top since it was less than $20 at Nordstrom Rack (I love the fun + flirty open-back detail).  Hey, it's all about the details, right?  If you're looking to start experimenting with mixing patterns, keep it simple, start small, and avoid more than one large print.  Happy Styling.

It's a Pane

August 8, 2014

The Window Pane print has been everywhere, more-so last season than right now.  Remember back to this post?  I was obsessed with that French Connection dress, though it proved to be way too short for my figure.... But that's what I love about Nordstrom Rack, you're able to find hot pieces that you recently just spotted at Nordstrom for at least half the price.  Like these wedges.  I had them saved in my Nordstrom Wish List for a few months, just hoping they would go on sale.  Of course, they sold out before I could get my hand on them.  That's why I was so shocked/excited when I found them at the Rack, for nearly 50% off!  Amazing.  A timeless wardrobe staple that will have a permanent place in my closet, and my heart, for that matter.

Who's excited for the weekend?  I know I am.  Happy Styling.

Birthday Best

March 4, 2014
[ skirt: Sugarlips ]  [ blouse: bcbgeneration old, similar ]  [ clutch: Clare Vivier ]  [ heels: bcbgeneration via T.J.Maxx ]

It's my birthday and I'll wear what I want to... wear what I want to....
This skirt maybe should have waited another month or so until Spring, but I couldn't resist.  Can you blame me?  It is totally versatile...  The black lines, yet bright colors make a perfect spring transition.  Come Summer, I'll be skipping the tights + trading the blouse for a black tank or this crop top [which I obviously bought as a reminder to do more crunches].  Plus, these shoes!  I had been craving a pair of black pumps with an ankle strap.  I had been eyeing these but couldn't stomach the price tag.  So when I spotted this pair at TJ's, I just couldn't resist.  Try this other budget friendly pair here.  Happy Tuesday!

Candy Craze

March 3, 2014
[ jeans: Hudson ]  [ t-shirt: T.J.Maxx ]  [  necklace: Cara via T.J.Maxx, similar here + here ]
[ pumps: Lord & Taylor, similar but love these ]  [ purse: Kate Spade, similar ]
[ shades: Ray Ban ]  [ lips: MAC "flat out fabulous" ]

Doesn't a colorful necklace just make you happier?  It reminds me of a candy shoppe.  Add a pink purse, bright lips and some leopard pumps, it ought to be a good bright day.  Happy Monday.

Eternal Emerald

October 31, 2013
[ Shirt: J.Crew Factory ]  [ jeans: Vince ]  [ flats: VC Signature ]  [ purse: Michael Kors ]
[ J.Crew Factory jewelry: bracelet + necklace, loving this + this ]

I've been swamped lately with bachelorette parties, weddings + the Red Sox [winning the world series and all], plus life in general... So blogging has been taking a hit.  My apologies.  I've been dying to share this look, both the necklace + the blouse.  More to come soon.  Cheers,

Casual Color-block

October 10, 2013
[ sweater: J.Crew Factory ]  [ blouse: J.Crew Factory ]  [ jeans: J.Crew Factory ]  [ shades: Burberrry ]
[ flats: Sam Edelman ]  [ purse: Michael Kors, larger version ]

I hit up the J.Crew Factory sale this past weekend, splurging a bit, yet convincing myself I needed it all.  I had been eyeing this waffle color-block sweater for some time, and decided there was no time better than a 40% off sale.  I also love that I can incorporate many colors into this look, while still representing my love for all things b+w.

Yellow, Pink + Paisley

August 22, 2013
[ skirt: J.Crew factory, sold out but try these other brights here and here ]  [ blouse: J.Crew factory, old but loving this blouse ]  [ heels: J.Crew ]  [ purse: Linea Pelle ]  [ shades: Ray Ban ]

This outfit just goes to show you never know what you will find when you look to the depths of your closet.  I've had this skirt all summer long and never had anything to pair it with (or so i thought)..  Then I spotted this paisley blouse (last seen here) in my closet, threw on my new pink sandals + voila! - this look was born.  Mix + match old with new.  I'm usually not this adventurous when it comes to mixing colors, especially brights, but damn, was it fun!  Thanks for stopping by...
