Scandinave Spa // Mont Tremblant

I was fortunate to be invited to experience the Scandinave Spa while visiting Mont Tremblant earlier this month.  I didn't have much knowledge about the spa or the entire experience, but I had heard it was worth a visit.  The experience began as we wandered down a series of snowy, tree lined paths, across a wood bridge, before arriving at the beautiful spa entrance.  The entire property is comprised of a series of buildings, all designed in the local vernacular, seamlessly nestling into the stepped, hilly landscape.

Intended to rejuvenate, invigorate and cleanse the body, the Scandinave Spa experience involves a series of hot baths, quick (cold) rinses, followed by relaxation -- this process is also known as hydrotherapy.  By alternating between hot and cold baths, one can (potentially) relieve stress, decrease inflammation and improve circulation.  The hot baths stimulate the removal of toxins; where the cold baths (or rinses) cause pores to temporarily restricts and improve overall blood circulation.

The hot baths feature the original smaller bath overlooking the quaint Diable river; while the second hot bath features a rejuvenating waterfall.  We spent some time soaking under the waterfall, just enjoying the sounds.

Situated along the banks of the Diable River (or Devil's River due to the red sand found as it's base), one of the coldest baths is the river itself -- all year long!  After we spent 15 minutes in the warm bath, we followed our way down a series of stepped terraces before dunking in the freezing river.  It was as intimidating as it was invigorating!  And if jumping into a freezing cold river in the middle of February isn't your thing, you can also take a 'quick' shower/rinse with water fed straight from the river -- it's just as cold but much closer to the warm relaxation rooms.

Following your hot and cold bath experience, you are encouraged to relax in one of the many relaxation areas: adirondack chairs by the outdoor fire, in a oversized papasan chairs, etc.  All relaxation areas feature sweeping views of the property, overlooking the pool, river or woods.  An important thing to remember while at the spa is that silence is essential, intended to help you find clarity and ultimate relaxation.

I certainly found the ultimate relaxation during my visit to Scandinave Spa.  We visited the Spa for morning rejuvination, but an afternoon visit would be perfect after a long day of skiing, or visit in the summer to cool of and relax while dipping in the beautiful Diable River.

Thank you so much to the wonderful staff at Scandinave Spa for hosting me!  It was a truly memorable experience.

  1. I am DYINGGG to check this place out! Reminds me of Strawberry Springs in CO, but they do not have an indoor component.
