I'm recovering from a bad sunburn (if you couldn't tell from the pictures).  I felt the need to cover up my red, burnt skin, while still wanting to be comfortable in the warm temps.  So I opted for these loose girlfriend jeans from GAP and a TopShop tee.  I certainly kept cool with the light colors, while not feeling too restricted...  Shop my look below.

A big shoutout and thanks to Daniel Wellington for this classic timepiece!  I had been dying to get my hands on this gorgeous Rose Gold Sheffield.  If you haven't heard of DW, their watches are versatile, detail oriented and timeless.  They offer a variety of watch styles and strap options, from traditional leather to colorful nylon.  You're even able to change out your watch strap so that your piece becomes unique to your liking for years to come!

For a limited time my readers can receive 15% a watch of your choice at DanielWellington.com with code 'KRISTYLYONS'.  PS - I'm loving this Dapper piece!

Have a great week!

how to style your blanket scarf

December 10, 2015
This season particularly, blanket scarfs are everywhere!  You may find your self wondering: "How the heck do I wear this thing?" or "How do I get the most use out of my scarf?"  There are many possibilities but I wanted to share 3 of my favorite ways to style my blanket scarves:

1 - Tied around the neck.

This is a great way to add those last minute finishing touches to your look, plus it provides added warmth for those days that a coat just isn't necessary.

2 - Draped long around the neck

This option adds length and dimension to the overall look, while providing additional warmth.  Pair with your favorite pea-coat or just by itself.

3 - Wrapped around your shoulders as a poncho.

This option is perfect for travelling (say long Holiday car rides) or running those last minute Holiday errand (you know?  when you don't want to wear a bulky jacket).  For a dressier look, say grabbing drinks with your girl friends after work, take your favorite belt and tie around the poncho at your waist.

I hope these looks provide you with a bit of inspiration this season.  My exact scarf is currently sold out online, but you may still find it in stores.  Shop an almost identical version or black option.

Pane (or window pane) print is becoming increasingly popular (see shift dress,  coat,  skirt,  track pants, etc).  I first styled these pants in this post.  Be sure to shop my look below, and scroll through to find other great pane print pieces.

Wedding Wear: Part I

May 26, 2015

Well it is official, wedding season is officially upon us.  And if you're anything like me, my schedule is jam packed with wedding events and festivities.  Don't get me wrong, I love it all.  But it always leaves me with one important question: "What am I going to wear?"

I have to admit, I love any excuse to buy a new dress (see here & here), especially for an upcoming wedding.  But with the frequency of weddings year after year, I have to ask myself, is buying a new dress every time really practical?  Answer: No.

Therefore, my theory in re-wearing a dress is to style it differently from that last time your wore it: new jewelry, a new clutch, new shoes, even a different hair style.  Accessories can transform any look.  Adding these different touches will make your dress (and your look) feel entirely new.

I put my theory to the test this past weekend at Billy (my cousin) & Susan's garden themed wedding. I last wore this pink Topshop number to Beth & Paul's wedding, in the Fall of 2013 (see here).  In that look, I paired the pink dress with black + gold accessories.  This time, I opted for new fun + floral pumps, that I could justify buying since they were on sale for under $50!  I finished the look with my go-to leopard clutch and a turquoise necklace (borrowed from my mom).

I have another wedding this coming weekend, so stay tuned for more Wedding Wear looks, including a Bridal Shower look and my graphic design work for both weddings!

Have a great week!

Couldn't resist pairing this sporty TopShop over-sized contrast stripe sweater with my favorite beanie, matching mittens, and, of corse, this oh-so matchy-matchy color-block coat.  Channeling some major Sporty Spice vibes.  Spice up your life!  Have a great week.

It's a Pane

August 8, 2014

The Window Pane print has been everywhere, more-so last season than right now.  Remember back to this post?  I was obsessed with that French Connection dress, though it proved to be way too short for my figure.... But that's what I love about Nordstrom Rack, you're able to find hot pieces that you recently just spotted at Nordstrom for at least half the price.  Like these wedges.  I had them saved in my Nordstrom Wish List for a few months, just hoping they would go on sale.  Of course, they sold out before I could get my hand on them.  That's why I was so shocked/excited when I found them at the Rack, for nearly 50% off!  Amazing.  A timeless wardrobe staple that will have a permanent place in my closet, and my heart, for that matter.

Who's excited for the weekend?  I know I am.  Happy Styling.

Gladiator

May 13, 2014

With the beautiful weather this past weekend, I jumped at the opportunity to sport these Gladiator Sandals.  Styling these sandals can be tricky - you don't want to over accessorize, and risk taking away from the showcase (aka the sandals).  They pretty much speak for themselves.  So I decided to keep the look simple with boyfriend shorts and a loose tee.  I think I achieved a good balance, what do you think?  I can't wait to wear these sandals with a loose sundress, or even bathing suit + coverup.

Hair Here

September 19, 2013
[ blouse: Banana Republic ]  [ jeans: Edyson ]  [ scarf: Vince Camuto ]  [ purse: Ralph Lauren ]
[ pumps: TJMaxx ]   [ necklace: JCrew Factory ]

I have been searching for the perfect hair wrap, something that wasn't too long + heavy, wouldn't weigh me down, but one that would effortlessly help cover up one of those bad hair days [especially since lately, I'm training my hair to go longer + longer in between washes].  Enter this silky-cobalt-chevorn-ombré number.  To my lucky surprise, I stumbled upon this Vince Camuto piece on sale at TJMaxx (totally worth it at only $10 - I am totally a maxxinsta)  Plus, not only can it be worn in your hair, it can also be worn around the neck or tied to a handbag to add a pop of graphic-color to any look.

With my favorite season literally right around the corner, stay tuned for some great new looks.  Also, for daily looks and updates, follow along via Instagram + Facebook.  That's a wrap...

Pink Pants

June 21, 2013

Today's post is a short one.  I've been semi-MIA lately.  With working both at the office + at Fenway, I've been having difficulties finding opportunities to snap some pics of my looks.  Here is a favorite outfit from a couple weekends ago, outlet shopping with my mom.  Who doesn't love some bright pants and accessories (especially if they were on sale at jcrew!)  I've been instagram-ing a lot lately, follow me here, too!  Happy Friday!
